The Political Brain - Reviews
Cal Cunningham
Westen's book was superb not only for its Party insights but also for its critique of human nature - and how a George W. can happen to a great country like ours. Westen "liberally" re-interprets what has worked and what hasn't in the last major national elections and he appears to have either an ax to grind with some consultants or supreme self-confidence, but there is good research - and a lot of confirmed political intuition in his book. Anyone writing speaches, campaigning for office or advising candidates needs to read this book and at least have competiting theories - or rhetoric - on the key issues he raises. We'll be seeing more of Westen,
