The Conscience of a Liberal - Reviews
If you haven't already, run, do not walk, to your friendly neighborhood book shop to get Paul Krugman's The Conscience of a Liberal. I listened to it on CD and am about to go shell out for paper. I think it's one of the most clarifying and useful books to come out recently. It has given me a better sense of the tides of politics in the last 100 years than anything else I've read. And facts to back up arguments which, even if I sympathized with them, I didn't really know if they were accurate or not. (How did the radical right persuade vast swathes of Americans to vote against their own economic interests? Answer: dog whistle politics.) Furthermore, he has solid reasons for thinking the tide is turning our way again, if we don’t waste our chance.
